I love everything to do with fashion and it’s always exciting when the seasons change and brands release their latest ranges. It’s great to see how the gorgeous designs from the catwalk become more wearable for us normal folks!
Last week I was lucky enough to meet some of the team from Intu Milton Keynes. We began the evening in Loaf and Bloom restaurant in Debenhams where the store personal shoppers talked us through the trends for S/S18 and the services they offer free of charge.
The personal shopper team can help with a range of fashion dilemmas. Whether it’s a bridal look, a special occasion or a seasonal wardrobe update they are only an appointment away. You can book an appointment online Debenhams Personal Shopper service or call 0344 800 8877. The online booking service is very straightforward and easy to you. You can choose what type of appointment you’d like to book and there’s an area where you can give further information like clothing sizes which will help the Personal shopper.
I had heard of the service before but I am a really tricky customer due to confidence issues so I just assumed I’d be beyond help. In fact I’d booked an appointment 6 wks ago and cancelled it because I was too scared to go and make a fool of myself! The lovely Milton Keynes team reassured me that they are friendly and open to working with the customer to make sure they feel comfortable. I got the feeling they just want to help build people’s confidence, both in themselves and their style.
I was then set a challenge by the Intu team. Using the information that the personal shopping team gave me I needed to find 3 capsule clothing pieces that would update my wardrobe and take it through the spring/ summer seasons.
It was important to me that I chose items that were on trend but also pushed the boundaries of my style. I often see pieces that I absolutely adore yet don’t buy because I’ve become stuck on a rut, too comfortable in the same baggy clothes that I can hide in! So I tried my best to approach the challenge with an open mind and found some pieces that are definitely on their way to my wardrobe in the next few weeks! Here are the 3 capsule items I chose!
This style of high heels always grab my attention. I love feminine against the sports luxe design and the nude shade means they will go with a lot of style. These beauty’s are from Office £38 (was £69).
I’m don’t often wear dresses but it’s a good idea to have a pretty dress in your wardrobe that will be perfect for different occasions from a wedding to a posh date night. I was attracted to the subtle pastel floral print of this midi dress and the Bardot sleeve gives it a beautiful summery vibe to it. New Look £24.99
I am obsessed with this tailored wide leg trousers from Top shop £45. The bright pink gorgeous and the double zip detail makes these trousers stand out from other similar ones. What’s even better is they are in the petite range so even a shorty like me can wear them! These trousers are very versatile, wear them dresses up with heels or for a more causal daytime look pair them with some summer sandals or a pair of crisp white converse or Vans for a fashion forward summer style!
Have you ever seen a piece of clothing for far away but known right that second you love it?! When I attended the Intu event the personal shoppers had brought up a rail of clothing to show us the key trends and I saw a black sleeve with a stripe down and gold buttons poking out and I commented that I would love that piece. Later on in the evening I think I spent a good ten minutes just looking at the gorgeous Black stud detail boucle Jacket £79 from Star by Julien Macdonald (Debenhams). It reminds me of a classic Chanel suit jacket with a modern sports vibe that has the finishing touches of Balmain. It is stunning and there wasn’t really anything else that could take its place on my Lust list where I will be keeping it until I can afford to place it in my wardrobe, one day, fingers crossed, one day!!
As a person with a mobility issue clothes shopping I often find it a painful struggle so using a personal shopper service where I can sit down and relax while outfits are chosen to me seems like a great idea. I can’t believe I hadn’t thought of it sooner!
I’d highly recommend trying out the service and rest assured that there is no obligation to buy the items. I’ve booked an appointment for myself in April so I will share my experiences with you here so make sure you check back in mid April to find out how I got on!
